Summer and I have both tried to give Madeline pigtails without success -- until today. Summer did it!
Since the clocks fell back this weekend, this evening was pitch-black and Madeline was cranky during dinner (which last week would have been bedtime). We'll adjust, I'm sure.
Speaking of crankiness, I haven't felt like this about an Eagles season since 1998. What a waste of Madeline's adorable recitations of "Fly, Eagles, fly!" and her DeSean Jackson jersey. Happily, she doesn't yet know that the people who run around on the screen are assigned points for their actions, and she doesn't yet get sad if the people wearing the wrong colors get more points than the people wearing the right colors. Maybe by the time she knows what's going on, we'll have a good team again.

Happy birthday, David!
This morning we realized we were out of pretty much anything that could make up a decent breakfast. So we stopped off for something to eat on the way to the grocery store. Madeline admired the cows on her milk box and said, "Moo!"
Madeline insisted on wearing her hat all day -- even when she took her nap. While she napped, Summer and I did yardwork. Afterward, Madeline made a birthday card for her daycare friend David.
Card-making is serious business!
Madeline had a blast at David's party with Ilan (another school friend) and some other little ones. First she and Ilan paraded around the yard shouting gleefully. Then all the little ones made the inside into a whirlwind of toys and balloons. Eventually the party began to slow down, signs of sleepiness began to show themselves, and it was home and to bed for Madeline. Petey attended Madeline through her bedtime, and Madeline informed us, "Petey's talkin'!" "What's Petey saying?," we asked. "Happy birthday, David!"

Playful Saturday
This morning Madeline played at home. She found my bandannas and wanted to wear one --
-- actually, she wanted to wear two. There's an orange one under the red.
Madeline sang to her little people and made them dance.
And this made her happy.
She also enjoyed playing peek-a-boo with the curtains.
After Madeline's nap, we ventured to the just-outside-Boston home of our friends who will very soon be moving to just-outside-Philadelphia. Madeline has been becoming very fond of baby Sam.
For days, in fact, she's been saying, "I wanna see Sam!" This evening they got to play and dance and turn the light on and off. Perhaps we'll see them again around Thanksgiving!

Kissy face & treats
Yesterday, Madeline unveiled her version of a kissy face -- yikes!
Today, Madeline wanted to give Petey treats ...
... so she did!
