Pumpkins

This morning, Madeline helped me make scrambled eggs and toast.

Then we played with her zoo and house until ...

... Mark and Sam arrived.  Madeline was a little jealous when Sam played with her toys.  But she still said she was happy to play with baby Sam.

After the visit, Madeline napped in the car while we drove to Barden Family Orchard to check out their pumpkin selection.  Last year, we went on October 1st and there were many pumpkins in the pumpkin patch!  This year, we went on October 21st and there were not.  Madeline sampled the wares in the field and decided a return to the pre-picked pumpkins was in order.

There were so many pumpkins, Madeline couldn't choose.

But finally she found one that was just right.

And now it's adorning our front step (along with mine and Summer's)!

Happy weekend

Yesterday Madeline danced around the kitchen in her diaper!

Then she spent her bath researching the physical properties of water.

Today Madeline played with her zoo.

Then we went to James's second birthday party!  While James opened his presents, Madeline played with a baby.

After the party, Madeline fell asleep in the car, we dropped Summer off at lab, I killed some time in the car, and then Madeline and I visited the Humboldt playground while Summer finished up.

We picked up Summer and then visited Liza and Barnaby.  Madeline played with them and their dogs and cat, and then they sent us home with this cool old dollhouse.

All evening, Madeline sang, "Happy birthday!" and chattered about the party and the "doggies and other cat."

Tomorrow we shall visit a pumpkin patch!

Midweek

I didn't know yesterday that while waiting for dinner, Summer took pictures of a rollicking Madeline.  Here's one:

I did know today that Summer, Madeline, and Petey were hanging out in our almost-complete home library while I cooked dinner

Now we just need furniture, a rug, and a fire in the fireplace!  Maybe this weekend (when we'll also, finally, get pumpkins!)...

A few tidbits from a typical day

Here's how we put on shoes in the morning.

When we get near daycare, Madeline usually gets excited.  Yesterday she sang out, "Yay friends! Yay friends!"

And she still loves Petey.
