Hooray for fall!

Today we went apple- and pumpkin-picking at Barden Family Orchard. At first, Madeline thought the whole thing was weird.

But once she got into the apple-picking action herself ...

... she was happy as can be.

She tried to munch on the baby-size apples she picked ...

... but her teeth aren't yet up to the task ...

... so I plan on making apple sauce instead.

For our part, we tried to take a family photo. That didn't work too well either.

But Madeline and Summer posed, lovely themselves against a lovely backdrop of apple trees and the surrounding forest.

We finished with a peck of apples and then proceeded to the pumpkin patch. We'd been warned that the way was treacherous, but Summer was unprepared for the ankle-deep mud. The combination of shears for pumpkin-cutting and ankle-deep mud seemed to effect a monstrous transformation!

Don't worry, though -- she recovered.

Madeline was filled with wonder at the pumpkin patch.

We deposited her in a suitable spot, and she beamed ...

... and beamed some more ...

... and briefly exploded with happiness (check out those teeth!) ...

... before producing possibly the most adorable baby picture ever.

Hooray for fall!
