Today was not the Sprout's favorite day. She made feeding cues almost constantly and ate plenty, but even when signalling hunger she didn't always actually want to eat. So sometimes we tried food substitutes: throughout the day she systematically chewed and licked the thumb, index finger, and middle finger of my right hand, in that order, each time beginning at the knuckle, moving up the metacarpal, and finally ending at the tip of the respective digit's distal phalanx. Probably the high point of her day, though, was a delicate sampling of her own toe.
We had hoped to head south today to see harbor seals in Narragansett Bay before they migrate northward to Maine and Canada. That didn't quite work out. (Maybe family would be interested in trying next weekend?) With the wrap's help, though, we did manage to get the Sprout down for just enough time to walk to Wayland Square, stop by Myopic Books, and get cookies and drinks at Edge Coffee. The peace didn't last long: the walk from Wayland Square was dominated by one of those aforementioned screaming sessions. (Oddly, the Sprout did pause long enough for a kindly woman in a passing car to admire her through a rolled-down window.) Let's hope tomorrow's a happier day.
Seals sound like fun...
ReplyDeleteI hope the sproutling has a happier day today.
We all have "days off"... I think she just looks "thoughtful" in that one picture, like she is trying to think of something to do but she just doesn't know what it is. I love the toe picture and that was something fun and different...xo N
ReplyDeleteMaybe she is starting to teth? My friend's daughter Grace has just started a few days ago and she is just days older than Madeline.
ReplyDeleteAlmost Easter seals... ;8^)
