Bath to bay to ocean

Friday night, Madeline took a bath with lots of bubbles!

On Saturday, we went to India Point Park.  Madeline wanted to see the ocean but had to settle for the head of the Narragansett Bay instead.

India Point features a waterfront playground with swings ...

... and a boat ...

... and a fun rope web!

The park also features a set of stairs leading to a pedestrian bridge over Interstate 195 to Providence's east side.  The top of the stairs affords an excellent view of the bay.  I told Madeline how the stairs and bridge are planted with grasses to clean rainwater before it flows into the bay.  She said "Maddie clean grass!" and proceeded to scrub.

We also took advantage of the view (though the picture below is from the lowest landing).

Today, Madeline got her visit to the ocean!

The lead-up to our trip took too long for Madeline, who resorted to sitting upside down on the futon.

Just before we left, when Madeline was all bundled up for the voyage, we took a moment to play dinosaur.  "Roar!"

A car nap later, we were walking on Scarborough Beach.  Madeline took a little while to shake off her naptime grogginess.

But she soon found herself interested in things like seagulls, skate egg cases ...

...

... and cool rocks.

We proceeded from Scarborough to Galilee for chowder, clam cakes, and a view of the harbor.  There were no seals yet, but we saw a ferry depart and some fishing boats (complete with swarms of seagulls) come in.

And we caught a spectacular sunset too, arriving home in fall's early darkness.
