Rambunctious

This morning Madeline got us up pretty early. An early weekend wakeup and a wallet containing cash make up the perfect conditions for brunch at the iconic Modern Diner. So that's what we did.

Madeline was a bit on the rambunctious side, which wasn't a problem because we could barely hear anything over the general din of the diner. We placated Madeline with a piece of toast nevertheless, and then Summer gave her a spoon with a bit of my delicious cheese grits on the end. Don't be fooled by the face -- she loved them. (And she managed the spoon ok, too.)

Madeline remained rambunctious for most of the day, sometimes smiling but often fussing. We tend to think it's still the tooth that's bothering her. As usual, though, little things sometimes worked to cure her fusses, like a tiny piece of leftover chicken and some water in a sippy cup.

And although Summer and I were engaged in a major decluttering mission, we still spent plenty of time playing with Madeline in her new baby jail. Any attempts at pictures, though, were met with swift and decisive camera attacks. Madeline's definitely mobile.

Here you can see some of her energy at work -- she's flailing so fast her arms have disappeared.

We took a couple breaks (with a baby nap sandwiched in between) to check in with both sets of grandparents. Unfortunately, Madeline was at her fussiest for these communications.

After more decluttering, baby-tending, and baby-jail-playing ...

... we called it a night (for Madeline). She went down in her crib, and I made dinner. The end.
