A walk in the park

Today was a significant improvement on the rest of the week.  Madeline slept well last night.  Though still snotty, she seemed to feel better too.

I was given something of an early start to the holiday weekend and, accordingly, picked up Madeline early.  She seemed suspicious of this deviation from routine.

Summer joined us not too long thereafter, and we went to Blackstone Park, the same place we went last Easter.  Madeline found odd little bits of sticks and dried leaves and bark and such, and wanted to know what they were.

Then she hitched a ride on Summer as we walked down to the water.

I mischievously gave Madeline a stick she pointed to and requested.  I'm not sure Summer appreciated the gift.

We paused at the bottom of the hill because Madeline was interested in the big rocks.

She was even more interested in the ducks swimming in the river.  She seemed to wish her arms were quite a few feet longer so she could grab them.

After we admired the ducks, it was time to head back up the hill.  Madeline led the way!

And that was that.

We've been reading her her Easter cards.  Not surprisingly, she seems especially to enjoy the ones that prominently feature animals.

Finally, tonight was the first night that Madeline didn't make a peep when we put her to bed to fall asleep by herself.  Hope!
