Sticks and moon

I took this picture out the kitchen window while I was making dinner. Madeline and Summer were examining sticks.

Lately Madeline has been fixated on the moon. "Maddie hold moon? Moon in sky. Moon broken. Maddie fix moon?"

We don't know why she thinks the moon is broken...

I'm thinking she thinks it's broken because it isn't a full moon right now.
