As per usual, Madeline had a happy, babbling morning.
After some Ironman-related delays, we visited Olga's for a hearty brunch. Madeline usually likes to be on our laps when we eat these days. She seems quite interested in utensils and starts licking her lips when she watches us eat. She often ends up chewing on a napkin.
After Olga's we headed to Smithfield. We visited Target to buy a beach umbrella and some cat litter. Then we met up with friends Timmy and Delphina at Georgiaville Pond, which has a nice sandy beach and fairly warm water. The sun was pretty bright so Madeline and I camped out under the umbrella.
Unfortunately, the umbrella was a bit temperamental and kept falling over. It bonked both of us on our heads a few times.
Madeline was a real trooper, especially since she was basically confined to 2 square feet of shade. She even took a little nap.
After we were all feeling a bit roasted, we said goodbye to Timmy and Delphina. Madeline took a nap on the drove home (and through Max's quick stop at the grocery store). Soon after we got home, Max started the grill and Madeline and I took it easy in the backyard. She was intrigued by the smoke (although it wasn't as smokey as it looks here!).
And she enjoyed taking turns on each of our laps while we enjoyed said burgers.
Here's a close up of baby joy.
After a happy, splashy bath to remove the sand, Madeline went to bed pretty early. She had quite an eventful weekend. Perhaps she will find daycare relaxing tomorrow!
