Sunday, continued

Madeline truly was a trooper today. Between beaming morning and evening smiling sessions, she calmly endured being carted about Rhode Island. Our first stop was Olga's for brunch. The mild and pleasant weekend (spring!) meant outdoor seating (it really is spring!) and eating among lots of happily blooming daffodils (again, spring!). Madeline asked for a snack, too, and got one.

Next, we headed to Exeter to visit a favorite Audubon preserve: Fisherville Brook. Snug in her wrap, Madeline was lulled to sleep by my loping along. I gave her a pine cone to examine, but she stayed asleep. And we took yet another family portrait.

We visited the neat old raised graveyard that abuts the preserve, and I tried to find an elusive chipmunk that Summer spotted (and managed to catch in a Where's Waldo?-style photo). A little later, I managed to catch the significantly less elusive mother, daughter, and pine cone combination.

On the home stretch, we played with Split Rock, my favorite part of Fisherville Brook!

Madeline woke up as we approached the parking lot, and was rewarded for her patience with another good meal (and a diaper change, to boot).

On the way home from Fisherville Brook we stopped by Babies 'R' Us to pick up a few basics and to take in the ambience. Madeline tolerated it better than she did Target, but after a bit had to be removed from her seat and carried against one or the other of our chests in order to remain happy. For our part, we were happy to oblige.
