Home sick

Last night's sleep issues became today's illness.  This morning, after I went to the dentist but before I caught a train to Boston, daycare called to report that Madeline had a fever and needed to go home.

So I picked her up, she fell asleep right away, and we drove around.  In two driving naps (napping drives?), we visited Pawtuxet Village and Bullocks Point, with a stop at a bike-path parking lot that offered a view of Providence's three-building skyline.

After the driving naps, we colored.

Well, I colored anyway.  Madeline bit off the tip of one crayon and broke another in half while throwing both repeatedly on the floor.

All this time, Madeline was congested and coughing but also quite happy.  She even had the energy for a very long stand, inspired by the Christmas tree.

After Madeline stood in front of the Christmas tree for a bit, the proverbial bell appeared to go off.  She crawled to the coffee table, pulled off her new stocking (in its protective plastic bag), then crawled back to the tree to introduce the two.

It was pretty cute.

Now she's again having some trouble sleeping, and she still has a fever.  Let's hope her bug is extinguished quickly!
