Tempus fugit

Alas, the text that originally accompanied this post has been swallowed into the gaping maw of the spider of the interwebs. My poignant thoughts on my last day of leave are lost forever. Here instead are some thoughts the day after.

Yesterday Madeline picked out her outfit by reaching for it; she smiled when she got to wear the lovely yellow dress.

I responded to her smiles with kisses.

We were going to go to the zoo because we've watched Madeline develop over the course of our previous visits, and it seemed she might appreciate the animals more now that she's so aware. But no sooner had our tires touched highway than she started wailing, and we pulled off for India Point Park instead.

As it turned out, India Point Park was plenty stimulating.

And the weather was nice.

So there were some smiles to be had.

Later, after picking up our friends' son from daycare and playing at a nearby playground for a while, we went to the farmers market. It was hot, so we enjoyed some fake Del's lemonade. Madeline wanted some, too.

But I distracted her with pine cones.

So ended my precious period of paternity leave. Tempus fugit.
