Empty day, full night's sleep

I've been trying to think what to share with you today, but really there's not much material to work with. We spent the day in bed. Madeline's daytime routine continues to be something along the lines of eat-eat-eat-diaper-eat-eat-diaper-sleep-eat-&c., which means: (1) she appears still to be growing like mad, and (2) it's tough for Summer to go anywhere. So, though we'd very loosely planned to get out of the house some way or another, instead we played Scrabble. And I managed to take a shower. Impressive, no?

Thankfully, Madeline's daytime schedule has also meant a third thing -- so far (knock on wood): she's been giving us a good 6-hour stretch of uninterrupted sleep each of the last few nights. Being held tends to ease her into these solid sleeps. Sometimes I take the truly taxing job of holding her, but others I get treated to this sight:

Good night!

  1. I think growing must be hard work...and I wonder if at times it "hurts" or is uncomfortable. You can really see it happening to Madeline. It is incredibly amazing to watch the process, especially these last few days. We really appreciate the pictures because it makes us feel a part of things too. We send love all around...xo N
